INTAS-IA-96-03 part B: KIEV - I.G.P.H. DSS data
From early '60 in many former Soviet Republics many and very long seismic profiles were carried out. The relative studies were mostly published  in some Russian Journals, but also some double-language reports do exist: for instance one of these is the Geophysical Journal published by the Institute of Geophysics. About the sources of the analog seismic data to be digitized, and their availability, we must say that several sources do still exist, in any case in a good connection with the Geophysical Institute. In any case our local Partner, Dr. Geyko, is well informed on all these various offices, and starting from our technological project, in the future a joint effort to realise a unique global Ukrainian DSS data-set will be planned. As our Kiev Partner, Dr. Geyko has the full control and responsibility of part of the Ukrainian DSS data: the Karpathian and Western Ukraine data. The other seismic data-sets, regarding other Ukrainian regions, belong to other Researchers. At IGPH there are a total of  about 8,000 available paper-records to be digized. The situation could be summarized as follows:

    N.
 area of DSS data-sets
  IGPH  Responsible
1
KARPATHIAN and WESTERN UKRAINE  GEYKO Valentin
     2
 UKRAINIAN SHIELD   TRIPOLSKY Alexander
     3
 DNEPRO-DONETSK Depression   ILCHENKO Tamara
 KALUSZNAYA Lidia
     4
 KRIMEA   SOLLOGUB Natalia
     5
 other Regions  OMELCHENKO Vitaly

Finally, another Research Group in Ukraine has some other data  regarding the SOUTHERN part of Ukraine (DSS and CMP crustal data, for a total of about 2,500 paper-records). It is the Dnepropetrovsk Enterprise of the local Geological Committee, responsible: GEYKO Taisia.

The priority in the processing of such a big amount of data will follow the international plan on joint scientific Projects and collaborations. This  means that Kiev partners intend, also for the future, to keep in a deep touch with international EUROPROBE Projects, such as GEORIFT, EUROBRIDGE, PANCARDI, TESZ and the last one DOBRE.
